Oda: Task Planner (“Oda”) is made by Studio Killswitch LLC. This policy explains what we collect when you use Oda, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Questions or requests: hello@starplasma.co.
The short version
- Oda plans your day, so it needs your tasks, your settings and, if you connect them, your calendars.
- We use your data to run Oda for you. We don’t sell it, rent it, or use it for advertising.
- If you allow it, what you ask Oda, with your plan, tasks, lists, settings and calendar event titles and times, is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to answer you. Nothing goes to it until you allow it, and you can turn it off in Settings.
- You can delete your account, and everything with it, from inside the app, and ask us for a copy of your data at any time.
What we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name (if you share it), your email address (or Apple’s private relay address) and an account identifier.
What you put into Oda
Your tasks and their details (titles, notes, durations, deadlines, subtasks, lists and repeats), your settings (awake hours, list hours, breaks and similar), your focus sessions (when you start, pause and finish tasks), and a daily log of what was planned and done, which powers your streak and progress.
Calendars you connect
- Google Calendar. With your permission we read your Google calendars’ events and keep your plan in a separate “Oda” calendar in your Google account. If you move one of Oda’s events there, Oda keeps that task at its new time. We store each event’s title, time, location, description, attendees, video-call link and whether it’s marked busy or free. If you answer an invitation in Oda (Yes, Maybe or No), we send that answer to Google Calendar, which updates your reply on the event and tells the organiser. Oda changes nothing else on events you didn’t create. The access tokens Google gives us stay on our server.
- Apple Calendar. With your permission the app reads your events on your iPhone and keeps your plan in an “Oda” calendar there. When you’re signed in, the same event details are sent to our servers so your plan works on all your devices.
We use calendar data only to plan around your events and show them to you in Oda.
The AI
Oda asks before anything is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic. If you allow it, when you ask Oda something we send what you said and the conversation so far, with your plan for the coming week (including the titles and times of your calendar events), your tasks (their names, lengths, days and deadlines, not their notes), your repeating tasks and their recent notes, your lists and their hours, your waking hours, days with changed hours, time off, your planning settings and your time zone, so it can answer you. It can also change these when you ask it to. You can turn this off in Settings at any time. Anthropic doesn’t train its models on this data. We don’t keep a copy of these conversations on our servers.
Purchases
When you subscribe, Apple handles payment. We receive a record of your subscription (plan, trial and renewal dates, status) through our subscription provider, RevenueCat. We never see your card details.
AI use and subscription checks
We count how much of the AI each account uses in a day, and check with RevenueCat that the account is subscribed, to keep the AI to subscribers and within a fair daily limit. We keep one count per account, replaced each day, and when the subscription was last seen active.
Notifications
Reminders and the Lock Screen Live Activity are created on your iPhone. We don’t run a notification server and don’t collect a push token.
Usage and crash reports
Unless you turn it off in Settings, Oda sends anonymous usage events and crash reports to PostHog: which screens are opened, steps like adding or finishing a task or starting a focus (never what a task is called or says), and the details of an error when something breaks, with your device model, system and app version. They aren’t linked to your account, and PostHog doesn’t keep your IP address. We use them to see what’s used and to fix what breaks.
Lock Screen updates
If you’re signed in and Oda shows what’s next on your Lock Screen (a Live Activity), the app sends us the push token Apple gives it, your time zone and whether you use a 12- or 24-hour clock. We use them only to keep it current from your synced plan while the app is closed, through Apple’s push service. We delete them when it ends, or after a day at most.
Technical information
Our servers and service providers keep limited logs, such as IP address, device type and the time of a request, to keep the service secure and working. We don’t use advertising SDKs, and we don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
How we use it
- To provide Oda: plan your day, keep it up to date, sync it between your devices, and remind you when you ask.
- To answer what you ask Oda.
- To manage your subscription and free trial.
- To keep Oda secure and fix problems.
- To reply when you contact us.
Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers that run Oda for us, under contracts that limit their use of it to providing their service:
- Supabase, for sign-in and our database: your account and everything stored in Oda.
- Cloudflare, for our backend server: requests from the app, including what you ask Oda and calendar syncing.
- Anthropic, for the AI, if you allow it: what you ask Oda, your plan, tasks, repeating tasks and their recent notes, lists and hours, planning settings, time off, and the titles and times of your calendar events.
- RevenueCat, for subscription status: an anonymous app user ID and your purchase records.
- PostHog, for usage and crash reports, unless you turn them off: anonymous events and error details, not linked to your account.
- Google, for Google Calendar and sign-in, if you use them: what’s needed to connect and sync your calendars.
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple, purchases and notifications: what’s needed to provide those services.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or our rights, or as part of a merger or sale of our business. If that happens, this policy continues to apply to your information.
Google user data
Oda’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google Calendar data only to show your events in Oda and plan your tasks around them, to keep your plan in your “Oda” calendar, to send your reply when you answer an invitation in Oda, and, if you allow it, to send your events to our AI provider so it can answer you. We don’t use it for advertising, we don’t sell it, and people can’t read it except where you ask us to for support, where it’s needed for security, or where the law requires it. We don’t use Google user data to train AI models.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your tasks, settings, logs, connected calendars and tokens from our servers right away. Copies in backups are removed within 30 days. We may keep subscription records where the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- A copy of your data: email hello@starplasma.co and we’ll send it to you.
- Delete your account: Settings → Account → Delete account.
- Calendars: disconnect them in Settings at any time. We stop syncing and delete the connection, its tokens and the events we stored. Your “Oda” calendar stays in Google until you delete it there.
- The AI: turn Ask Oda off in Settings.
- Notifications: turn them off in Oda’s Settings or in iOS Settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to complain to your data protection authority. Email hello@starplasma.co and we’ll respond within 30 days. We don’t sell or share personal information as defined under California law, and we won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Legal bases (EEA and UK). We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing Oda), for our legitimate interests (keeping Oda secure and working), and with your consent where we ask for it (calendars, the AI, notifications). Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries, under safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Children
Oda isn’t meant for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit and stored with providers that encrypt it at rest. Each account can only read its own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
